I have tried to wrap my head around Trump's engagement of Qatar and Syria. My first thoughts were around what seems to be a belief he can deal with anyone, even Islamists. I am just a layman who has done his best to educate himself on Islam (this effort includes the imminent purchase of your book) and this seems a fool's errand to me. I don't thinks Trump a fool. Perhaps he is just giving them rope.

I hope your analysis is not the case or we are in even more trouble than we already are the way Islamists are embraced in the west.

I believe the rope theory. Last week on X I said that and got a one week suspension. I actually said to a jihadi “we will give you plenty of rope and just watch you”

Same mistake Netanyahu made believing Hamas could be paid off. Forgot how the ideology burns.

Trump, whose instincts are pretty solid, even as his actions and speech can be erratic, has also an unmovable ideology: money. His coziness with Qatar and Saudi Arabia is about money, no loyalties need be applied. Creating this additional jihad variety may have been part of the deals. To turn jihadists into useful combatants one needs to send them to school, where they will be taught that the Hebrew Bible was written by people, as acknowledged by the vast majority of Jews , who though God-believing many of them, are secular, just as the New Testament is universally acknowledged to have been written by humans. Their belief in the unchanging Quran must be shattered.

I dont think Netanyahu has any illusions regarding Gazans or Islam. They continue to kill Hamas. I think he is trying to navigate a minefield internatiinally. We will see how things pan out.

Not anymore I guess. He had illusions before. It's one of the reasons for Oct 7.

You blame Netanyahu for Oct 7? Given his history, I doubt he has ever had any illusions?

This is common knowledge. He paid Hamas, transferred monies from Qatar. He believed he could "manage" Hamas . Most of Israel knows this. He prevents a proper inquiry whilst he is in charge , but eventually all will be disclosed. It's a common mistake, humans prefer to think well. It's less painful than anticipating the worst. Europe thought they could live with Hitler. Until.

Careful with words.

I didn't " blame" any Israeli for Oct 7. Hamas and the Iran-Qatar axis are directly to blame .

But ALL that malfunctioned in Israel that allowed Hamas to perpetrate 10/7 falls, at the end, under the PM's responsibility. He was PM for 12 years.

You repeat a fraction of the tropes invented by haters. The only thing stopping him, and Israel from wiping the floor with their Islamist enemies is international pressure and pressure from within. I cant speak to every political nuance within Israel but I have learned enough to know not all Israelis act in their best interests. You need to learn more of the truth. I will use what ever words I choose. You claim you haven't blamed him then say he is responsible.

You don't understand the true dimensions of 10/7. The catastrophic upheaval had causes .There had been limited wars with Hamas. But the unpreparedness of Israel in every possible manner is a topic too serious to discuss with a blind partisan like you. It is Israel's millenarian rational sense of accountability which has substantially contributed to survival. They acknowledge mistakes and fix them.It is so now. Blind partisan apologists like you are stuck on feeling. You also need to learn the meaning of words. Of course the PM bears responsibility! When everything malfunctions internally, whose responsibility is it? Anyway, this is a waste of time. Good luck with your irrational views.

Superb! Dan is right. The only hope is to destroy the tree itself (Islam), root and branch. There’s is no negotiating with it. There is no taming it.
